Default Ranger Questions

1. Do the various pets have any special abilities?

2. I was reading about the nature rituals that affect both friends and foe. Is that applied to the area where it was cast (if you leave the area then you loose the enchantment) or do those stay with those that were present at the casting?

3. Does the penalty of the nature rituals affect only the caster or everyone present?

4. I've noticed that Crippling shot does not have a duration. Does this mean that someone hit by crippling shot will be "crippled" until the condition is removed?

Not beyond differences in armor, damage, and attack rate. They're just bodies. The various calls, however, give pets special abilities.

Rituals do not have an area of effect - they affect every creature on the entire map. You can run as far as you want, but you cannot escape the effects of a nature ritual.

Just the caster. It's the price you pay for putting up such a game changing effect.

Perhaps, but it's more likely that it just means the skill description is inaccurate. Not every skill's text accurately describes what it actually does. I'd assume that Crippling Shot inflicts a cripple with a variable duration.

Default Another ranger question

Thank you.

Do shouts (Calls) from the beast mastery stack or do they work like stances? (only one active at a time)

you can have multiple calls and they will stack for the most part. many of the calls indicate a buff in base armor penetration -- these do not stack.

if i can get that dang black bear charmed, i would have a pet that uses a skill
i think it was called "brutal mauling" and was supposed to cause bleeding or something..

Post Bear pet

Keep us up to date Bgnome on the bear situation. I know I'm interested and I'm sure others are too. If you can get it charmed and have it as your pet there are plenty of us that would like to know the secret if you're willing!

Most skills that cause conditions now cause conditions with variable durations. The amount of time someone'll be Bleeding or Deep Wounded or whatever is tied to the associated attribute for the skill. If Pin Down or Crippling Shot or whatever doesn't have a listed duration it's either because it *does* and the skill description hasn't been updated or it *should* and they haven't gotten around to tweaking it yet. I'd bet on the former and look at a skill like Hamstring, which does list the duration, to get an idea of what you're in for.

Right. Calls stack. The effects of calls don't. Not if they're the same effect, anyway.

If you have two Calls and one adds +1 regeneration and +4 damage, say, and the other adds +10% armor penetration and +4 damage, then you'll have a pet with +1 regeneration, +10% armor piercing, and +4 damage when both are active. *Not* a pet with +8 damage. I believe that when two Calls have differing bonuses, say one call's +4 damage, the other's +8, that you get the highest bonus rather than the one you've cast most recently, but I'm not sure.

What that means is you can't pile on Calls that are going to send your pet's stats through the roof - if that were true pets might be a) abusable or b) actually worth anything of value - you can only give them a slight boost.
